So, what is a story map?

It’s a visual description of the story. With the help of images, the storyteller introduces the listener to the characters and setting then leads them through the events right up to the ending.

There are ten short stories, each with its own illustrated and numbered story map and related activities. The first few stories are around 250-300 words long, so students can remember them easily.

Then, of course, the stories get longer and have more detail as students get more comfortable and confident in their storytelling.

There are also Lead in, Word Tree and other activities relating to each story which help students remember vocabulary and strengthen their understanding of the stories.

Additional activities at the back of the book can be used for vocabulary support and practice. They range from competitions and games to memory exercises and internet research.

Teachers will find once they know the stories, the lessons are very low-prep.
